Our Replacement Awning

After Hurricane Wilma destroyed our fixed frame awning, we decided to replace it with a Retractable Awning.

This one is 23 feet wide with a projection of 8 feet 10 inches.  The old awning was 24 feet wide with a 7 foot projection.

The new awning has an electric motor to extend and retract it and has a wind sensor to automatically retract it when winds exceed a preset and adjustable value.  We have it set to about 18 mph now.  Of course, we have a manual override to crank it in if the power goes out.   No more worries when storms hit.

Now if I could only get that replacement wind turbine from my roofer I would have all the hurricane damage repaired.  Just in time for this years Hurricane Season.

Ieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
