Home remodeling and renovation is always an adventure and somewhat of a puzzle.  We thought we would share our adventure with you.  The links to the <-- left will show you pictures from before we started and each day of activity.

After 6 months of planning and searching for contractors, we finally had the first part of the project scheduled to start on April 30, 2001.  The first part we wanted to get started was the roof replacement.  Our 34 year old concrete tile roof was in dire need of replacement and we wanted to get it done before the beginning of the rainy season (May 21st), and before we started work on the pool deck and pool renovations.  We figured we had a good shot, since we have been in a drought here in South Florida for months, only having 4.37" of rain in total since January 1st.  Wouldn't you know it, but the day they were scheduled to start the roof, it got windy and started to rain, with rain and thunderstorms forecasted for 2 to 4 days.   We should have know it was going to rain since this week is the beginning of Sunfest in West Palm Beach, and it always rains for Sunfest.  Now we hope to start the roof when the weather breaks.

In the mean time, we now have decided to start the deck demolition while the weather is uncertain and begin to get ready to pour a new deck after the weather improves.  We will just have to wait to pour the new concrete until after the roof is finished to avoid damaging the new pad with concrete shingles being dropped from the roof.

We intend to photo document the renovations (this is always a fun thing to do and look back at in later years) and we are starting with the before images and each day after that.  When the outdoor construction is completed, we will begin doing the landscaping ourselves, a little at a time.  I kind of want the drought to end before I start to plant things.
